How to calibrate Wondcon Anesthesia Vaporizer?

Calibration of Anesthesia Vaporizer

Every year, the vaporizer must be tested and calibrated to assure the vaporizer is normal situation and safe. The reason is that the vaporizer maybe be changed and the tolerance is becoming bigger or problem after a long time usage.

 

Please follow these steps:

1 prepare the test equipment and anesthesia agent monitor(Vamos of Drager,Germany or S5 monitor of GE)

2 test the vaporizer:

a)The temperature of the test room is 21℃(operation room temperature often is 21℃), fill the anesthesia agent in the vaporizer and keep it for a hour.

b)set the flow meter is 0.5,1,2,5,8L/m, and check and record the output concentration of anesthesia agent(0.2%,0.5%,1%,2%,3%,4%,5%), for example Isoflurane,Halothane or Sevoflurane.

c) change the environment temperature is 15, and wait one hour,

d) set the flow meter is 0.5,1,2,5,8L/m, and check and record the output concentration of anesthesia agent(0.2%,0.5%,1%,2%,3%,4%,5%), for example Isoflurane,Halothane or Sevoflurane.

f) set the flow meter is 0.5,1,2,5,8L/m, and check and record the output concentration of anesthesia agent(0.2%,0.5%,1%,2%,3%,4%,5%), for example Isoflurane,Halothane or Sevoflurane.

Please account and check the tolerance, if it is within the standard range, it show the vaporizer is ok and can continue to use and do not need to be calibrated. If it is out of the standard range, it need to be calibrated or repaired by special engineer.

 

3 calibrate the Anesthesia Vaporizer

If the tolerance of  Anesthesia is out of the standard range, it need to be calibrated or even repaired.

3.1The reason of bigger tolerance is:

a) the knob is rotated every time, the friction will reduce the thickness of part.

b) the inner part is problem and do not work well, for example, the material is corroded or the characteristic is changed. It is serous problem and need to replace and repair.

3.2 calibrate the Anesthesia Vaporizer

Make all preparation work, like test vaporizer.

3.2.1 replace the top knob

a) take away the top color cover

b) use a tool to detach the original knob(with the concentration number 0.2%,0.5%, 1%,2%, 3%,4%,5%)

c) install a new knob(blank and without number)( we will supply some knob to you in your stock)

3.2.2 test the concentration and label the concentration on this blank knob

a) set the temperature of room is 21, and wait one hour,

set the flow meter is 2L/m.

rotate the knob and look the anesthesia monitor. When the concentration is 0.2%, label a vertical line on this knob.

Continue to rotate the knob and look the anesthesia monitor. When the concentration is 0.5%, label a vertical line on this knob.

Continue to rotate the knob and look the anesthesia monitor. When the concentration is 1%, label a vertical line on this knob.

Continue to rotate the knob and look the anesthesia monitor. When the concentration is 2%, label a vertical line on this knob.

Continue to rotate the knob and look the anesthesia monitor. When the concentration is 3%, label a vertical line on this knob.

Continue to rotate the knob and look the anesthesia monitor. When the concentration is 4%, label a vertical line on this knob.

Continue to rotate the knob and look the anesthesia monitor. When the concentration is 5%, label a vertical line on this knob.

set the flow meter is0.5L/m,1L/m,5L/m,8L/m and rotate the knob at the vertical line and check the concentration number of anesthesia monitor and record.

If the tolerance is within the standard range, it is ok. And please return this label knob to us and we will use laser instruction to label these numbers on these returned knob and then send back to you to install them on the corresponding vaporizer. Then test these vaporizers again to assure they are ok!

If the tolerance is out of the standard range, please redo this process until the tolerance is inside the standard range.

 

4.Repair the Anesthesia Vaporizer

If this calibration is faulty, it show the inner part is problem and need to place the part. When you meet this situation, please tell us and we will send some part with blank knob to you to replace the part and original knob and do calibrate the vaporizer again until the vaporizer is ok.
